Dr. Mohammad Shalby received his B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 2005, an M.Sc. in Engineering Management from Mutah University in 2012, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Technology Sydney in 2019. Since 2019, he has served as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, and since 2022, as the Director of the Center for Studies, Consultations, and Community Development. His research interests focus on environmental studies and the advancement of renewable energy technologies. Specifically, he is dedicated to the design and development of oscillating water column devices for ocean wave energy harvesting, improving the efficiency and sustainability of wind and solar energy systems, exploring the potential for Concentrating Solar Thermal Power (CSP) generation in Jordan, and investigating the use of various small-scale turbines for domestic wind power generation. His work aims to promote innovative, sustainable solutions to meet the growing global and regional energy demands.

My primary research interests focus on advancing renewable energy technologies to support sustainable development. I am particularly interested in the design and development of oscillating water column devices to efficiently harvest energy from ocean waves. Additionally, I work on improving the performance and sustainability of wind and solar energy systems. A significant part of my research explores the potential of utilizing Concentrating Solar Thermal Power (CSP) technology for electricity generation in Jordan, addressing the country’s energy needs through innovative solutions. I am also dedicated to investigating the use of small-scale turbines for domestic wind power generation, aiming to promote decentralized and accessible renewable energy sources for local communities.
