The department is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the university network and connecting new buildings to it. It also manages and maintains various technical services such as student and staff email services and internet access with filtering of non-educational content.
The department ensures the confidentiality of user information when handling data extracted from operational systems, the internet, or personal devices. It plays a key role in implementing cybersecurity policies to protect university data from digital threats and to ensure the integrity of the information infrastructure.
The department also manages the wired and wireless internet networks across campus, specifies technical requirements for equipment used in computer labs, and is responsible for maintaining the servers located in the main server room. It oversees the university's camera surveillance project and follows up on many other technical projects.
Through its Computer Maintenance and Technical Support Division, the department carries out maintenance and follow-up for computer equipment and applications across the university, and organizes training workshops in IT for students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community.
Additionally, the department prepares studies and plans to support the university’s electronic development based on available resources, provides technical support for university activities and conferences, and offers IT consultations for university institutions and the local community.
