Under the patronage of Professor Atef Al-Kharabsheh, President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences organized the joint Scientific Day under the theme: “Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences: Hand in Hand Toward Integrated Care for a Better Future.” The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Dr. Suleiman Al-Naimat, along with a distinguished group of faculty and administrative staff members, students, and healthcare professionals from Ma’an Governorate.

In his remarks, Professor Atef Al-Kharabsheh, President of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, emphasized that this scientific gathering reflects the University’s vision of supporting applied scientific research and strengthening integration among health disciplines. He noted that the development of the healthcare sector begins at universities through the preparation of qualified professionals capable of keeping pace with global advancements.

Professor Al-Kharabsheh also stressed the importance of encouraging joint scientific research and linking its outcomes to the needs of society, in a way that contributes to improving the quality of healthcare services.

For his part, Professor Khaled Dweina, Dean of Scientific Research and Graduate Studies, stated that this Scientific Day embodies the spirit of integration and research collaboration between nursing and allied medical sciences. He highlighted that scientific research has become a fundamental benchmark for the advancement of universities.

Professor Dweina also pointed to the importance of graduate studies programs, citing the Master’s Program in Adult Acute Care Nursing as a successful model for preparing specialized professionals and enhancing applied research. He called for the formation of joint research teams and for directing efforts toward projects supported locally and internationally.

Dr. Dua’ Dweirj, Dean of the Princess Aisha Bint Al-Hussein Faculty of Nursing, emphasized the importance of integrated work among health disciplines. She noted that such collaboration contributes to building a more efficient healthcare system, enhances the quality of care provided to patients, and plays an important role in developing students’ research and scientific skills.

The Scientific Day included nine scientific presentations addressing contemporary topics in nursing and allied medical sciences. The sessions opened with a keynote lecture on the importance of collaboration among health disciplines in building effective teams and achieving better outcomes for patients.

The lectures also addressed the debunking of myths and clinical misconceptions in spinal rehabilitation, Bedouin practices in preventing scorpion stings between folk heritage and scientific evidence, as well as the risks associated with unsupervised dietary regimens.

Within the clinical care theme, the sessions reviewed topics related to physical restraint in intensive care units, the pain experience among cancer patients in multidisciplinary clinics, and the importance of interprofessional learning between nursing and medical laboratories.

The event also addressed modern administrative and technological aspects, including the role of nurses’ positive voice in promoting safety behaviors and the impact of artificial intelligence on advancing collaborative healthcare. This reflects the University’s commitment to keeping pace with digital transformations in the healthcare sector.

The Scientific Day also featured a number of scientific poster presentations, which reflected the efforts of students and researchers in presenting innovative research ideas and projects. These contributions helped promote scientific dialogue and the exchange of expertise. Participants and supporters were also honored, and shields and certificates of appreciation were presented with the support of the “All Jordan Youth Commission” initiative.

The organization of this Scientific Day, supported by the All Jordan Youth Commission – Ma’an Branch, reaffirms the University’s commitment to supporting scientific research and strengthening integration among health disciplines. It also contributes to the development of healthcare services, community service, and the consolidation of the University’s position as a leading academic institution in preparing qualified scientific competencies.
