The Department of Environmental Engineering aspires to be the leader in teaching, scientific research and transfer, simplification and dissemination of technology to the local community and the surrounding areas.


The mission statement of the Department is summarized by:

Graduating Environmental Engineers with technical orientation, practical and transferable skills that enable them to perform independently, and become learners for life in order to contribute to the basic needs and development plans of jordan and other Arab countries. Improving and updating standards of practicing Environmental Engineers in Jordan through offering specialized courses, and by hosting technical seminars and conferences. This will contribute in the development of Jordan and the region through the service of the public and private sectors.


The Environmental Engineering Department is structured to provide the necessary background in Engineering and natural sciences (civil engineering, chemical engineering, mining engineering and engineering geology, geology, chemistry, physics, and biology) with the intent of preparing our undergraduates for the 21st century. It includes a general education component consistent with the college and university requirements for the B.S. degree. The logic that underlies the sequence of courses in each of these areas is described below.
The objective of the Environmental Engineering Department is to produce undergraduates who:

1- demonstrate the ability to apply engineering principles, computer skills, and natural sciences to environmental engineering practice

2- are capable of synthesizing principles and techniques from engineering, engineering planning and project management, and the natural and social sciences to develop and evaluate alternative design solutions to engineering problems with specific constraints

3- are prepared for entry into careers in environmental engineering that involve air quality systems evaluation and engineering, air pollution control technology, water quality systems evaluation and engineering, water and wastewater treatment, or site remediation

4- are prepared to pursue graduate education and research in environmental engineering at major research universities

5- exercise professional responsibility and sensitivity to a broad range of societal concerns, such as ethical, environmental, economic, regulatory, and global issues

6- make co-operation and collaboration relationships with Universities, research centers in the entire World, whom are interesting in environmental development.

7- helping to shape the future of the profession, and who are aiding the advancement of the environmental engineering industry by transferring new knowledge and technologies to engineering practice.
