Engineering Geology & Mineralogy Lab.


Reading and interpretation of topographic maps, aerial photographs, landsat images, and geological maps. Description and interpretation of geological units, geological structures, drawing of geological profiles, identification of different geological models and fossils, classification of igneous, metamorphic, sedimentary rocks and soil. Practical applications.

Experiments on thin sections preparation techniques. Applications of the use of megascopic, hand specimen, X-ray and other analytical techniques used for light and opaque metallic and nonmetallic identification. Application on polarizing microscope for identification of light and opaque minerals using light properties. Applications on crystal systems. Applications on industrial minerals in Jordan.
