Measurement and Diagnosis in Special Education

Course Description:

The course intends to provide students with the needed skills to diagnose students with special needs through administrating different measurement tools. It includes the concept of measurement, its types, and characteristics. Additionally, it includes the concept of evaluation, the different types of tests, the acceptable characteristics of tests, the basis of measurement and evaluation, and the domains of educational evaluation and its tools. Moreover, the course teaches students how to diagnose and evaluate children with special needs from different categories (mental retardation, visual impairment, hearing impairment, physical impairment, learning disabilities, behavior disorders, and gifted and talented).
