Dr. Fadi Alhomaidat is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University (AHU) in Maan, Jordan. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation from Western Michigan University in May 2019, where his research examined the impact of freeway speed limits on the safety and operational speed of adjacent arterial roads. Prior to his doctorate, Dr. Alhomaidat completed a Masters degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington in May 2015, focusing on the application of the moving observer method for estimating speed and traffic flow in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. He also holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Mutah University, obtained in January 2011. Dr. Alhomaidats professional experience includes serving as a Transportation Modeler at the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) in Detroit, Michigan, where he analyzed commercial vehicle and freight data to support regional freight planning activities. He has also held teaching and research positions at Western Michigan University and has practical experience as a site engineer with construction companies in Jordan. His research interests encompass motorized and non-motorized traffic safety, simulation and operations, intelligent transportation systems, GIS applications in transportation engineering, travel behavior and forecasting, machine learning applications in transportation engineering, and sustainability in transportation and civil engineering. Dr. Alhomaidat has been recognized for his contributions to the field, including receiving the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) 2017 student paper award for his work on cycling risk perception across different age groups. He has published numerous articles in reputable journals and has presented his research at international conferences. In addition to his academic and research endeavors, Dr. Alhomaidat has supervised graduate and undergraduate projects, contributed to curriculum development, and participated in various committees at AHU. His work continues to influence the field of transportation engineering, particularly in areas related to traffic safety and the application of advanced technologies in transportation systems.
